At the United Way Spirit Awards held on March 9, 2011, the UBC community was honoured with a Quantum Leap Giving Award for its dramatic increase in campaign support over the previous year. The award was accepted on behalf of UBC by the university’s UW Campaign Co-chairs, Lynn Newman and Steve Tuckwood.
Presented through the Scotiabank & United Way Community Spirit Awards, organizations and their employees receive this recognition for continuing dedication to UW and the greater community.
In 2009, $543,815 was raised by the UBC community. During the 2010 campaign, we surpassed our goal of $600,000 and raised $694,584.87 for the United Way of the Lower Mainland and Okanagan.
