Prof. Toope was delighted to welcome The Nippon Foundation (NF) to the Vancouver campus for the inaugural NF-UBC Nereus Annual Advisory Committee meeting.

The NF-UBC Nereus – Predicting the Future Ocean program was created to study the future of the world’s oceans and to monitor the impact of human activities on seafood resources. It is an international research network that evaluates future scenarios for managing fisheries in the world’s oceans, as well as communicates and brings about changes that will preserve healthy oceans for generations to come.

The NF-UBC Nereus program was selected to hold a symposium during the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Annual General Meeting, taking place in Vancouver 16-20 February 2012.
