Coat of Arms Refinements

UBC-COA-2013-750x350_Banner_ImageThe Coat of Arms has been an integral part of the university since its 1915 inception by UBC’s first president Frank Wesbrook. It has now been restored to its original splendor and elegance in time for our new-look  2013 graduation. While the elements and the meaning of the Coat of Arms have not changed, the design has been refined to ensure a consistent, quality rendering for a variety of formats. These refinements have focused on accurate historical relevance and appropriate period vernaculars, including the use of letterforms appropriate to the period. Readability has been enhanced, and the vine pattern on the books has been changed to the shape of leaves found in flora that are indigenous to campus.
